• Assistant Surgeon (Civil) in Tamil Nadu Medical Service - 1100 Vacancy Posts - Basic Pay 56100 plus allowances in Tamil Nadu Revised Pay Matrix Level 22 - MBBS with valid registration in MCI - Age limit 37 years

Age limit details :

UR candidates - 37 years

UR PwD candidates - 47 years

UR Ex-serviceman candidates - 48 years

All other candidates - No Age limit 

Examination and Selection details :

The selection process is based on a Computer Based Test (CBT) and any applicable incentive marks. There is No Oral Test (Interview)

A. Examination Structure

The examination will consist of two parts:

1. Tamil Language Eligibility Test (SSLC Standard):

   • Duration: 1 Hour 

   • Marks: 50 ²¹

   • Qualifying Marks: 40% 

   • Note: Marks secured in this test will not be taken into account for ranking

2. Subject Paper (Medical Sciences):

   • Duration: 2 Hours ²⁴

   • Marks: 100 (Objective type questions)

   • Minimum Qualifying Marks: 35% (SC/SCA/ST) / 30% (Others)

   • The paper will be set in English only at the Under Graduate Level

   • There is no negative mark for wrong answers

B. COVID-19 Duty Incentive Marks

Incentive marks are awarded to Medical Officers (including Post Graduate Students) who rendered service during the COVID-19 crisis in Government Medical Institutions

2 Marks for - 6 months to 1 year Continuous Service Period

3 Marks for - Above 1 year to 1.5 years Continuous Service Period

4 Marks for - Above 1.5 years to 2 years Continuous Service Period

5 Marks for - Above 2 years Continuous Service Period

Final Selection is based on the marks obtained in the Subject Paper plus the incentive marks awarded for COVID-19 duty.

 Application Registration / Exam Fees details :

Application Fee Rs.500 for SC / SCA / ST / PwD / Destitute Widow of all communities

Application Fee Rs.1000 for BC / BC Muslims / MBC / DC / UR
