TNPSC Public Prosecutor Vacancy Recruitment 2018 :
  • Assistant Public Prosecutor Grade II in Tamil Nadu General Service - 46 Posts - Basic Pay 56100 plus allowances in Tamil State State Pay Matrix Level 22 (Basic Pay 15600 Grade Pay 5400) - Bachelor's Degree in Law ; Should have valid registration in Bar Council ; Adequate knowledge in Tamil Language ; Minimum five years experience in practising at criminal court 
Educational Qualifications required for Public Prosecutor TNPSC Exam Post :
  • Bachelor's Degree in Law
  • Should have valid registration in Bar Council
  • Adequate knowledge in Tamil Language
Experience required for Public Prosecutor TNPSC Exam Post :
  • Must have had active practice in ‘criminal courts’ for a period of not less than five years.
  • The expression “active practice in Criminal Courts” shall include the period of service rendered by a person as a temporary Assistant Public Prosecutor, Grade-II.
  • Experience certificate should be obtained from Senior Advocate or from a Judicial Magistrate.
  • The term “Senior Advocate” includes Notary Public, Assistant Public Prosecutor / Public Prosecutor, President / Secretary of the Bar Associations and Advocates practising for seven years and more in Taluk and Districts, besides the Senior Advocates practising in the High Court and in the Supreme Court. (Letter Rc.No.8548/DOP/A1/1997, dated 01.12.1997 received from the Director of Prosecution)
Age limit details :
  • Minimum age limit is 18 years should have completed.
  • There is no maximum age limit for SC / SCA / ST / BC / BCM / MBC / DNC candidates and Destitute Widow of all communities.
  • There is no maximum age limit for Ex-Service-man candidates from SC / SCA / ST / BC / BCM / MBC / DNC candidates.
  • Maximum age limit for UR candidates is 34 years.
  • Maximum age limit for  PwD UR candidates is 44 years.
  • Maximum age limit for Ex-Serviceman UR candidates is 48 years. This age concession will not apply to the ex-servicemen applicants who have already been recruited to any class or service or category.
  • UR candidates, who-ever working more than 5 years in government sector (state / central / psu) are not eligible to apply, even though they are in with-in the age limit.
Eligibility of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category applications : (as per the G.O.Ms.No.23 Welfare of Differently Abled Persons (DAP 3.2) Department, dated 20.07.2018)

Examination Details :
Method of selection via, Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, Viva-Voce Test.
Preliminary Exam : Law 80 MCQs for 80 Marks 200 MCQs ; Aptitude and Mental Ability Test (10th Std Level) 20 MCQs for 20 Marks - Total 100 MCQs for 100 marks - 2 hours exam.
Main Examination : There is four individual descriptive type papers. Questions will be in Tamil and English.
Paper 1 Law 1 for 100 marks time duration 3 hours.
Paper 2 Law II for 100 marks time duration 3 hours.
Paper 3 Law III for 100 marks time duration 3 hours.
Paper 4 Law IV for 100 marks time duration 3 hours.
Interview / Oral Test - 60 marks.
There is no negative marking system.
Preliminary Examination Centres : Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Thirunelveli, Salem, Thanjavur, Vellore and Villupuram Districts.
Main Examination Centres : Chennai.
